WHAT WE OFFER

Keyworker System

Each child is allocated a keyworker who looks after the welfare and tracks the progress of the child throughout their time at Pre-school. The Keyworker meets regularly with the parents to inform them of their child’s progress and to discuss any concerns that they may have. We feel that this reassures our parents that their child is cared for on an individual basis and that we always have their best interests at heart.

Session Activities

Throughout our morning sessions each child has a choice of different activities, these include puzzles, dressing up, arts & crafts, themed toy areas and story time. This choice is extended into our fully enclosed garden where the sandpit, ride on toys and ball games are all readily available throughout our sessions. We encourage a free-flow system where children can play freely inside and outside. We try to ensure that the children spend at least part of the session in the garden, whether that means ensuring suncream is applied and sunhats worn or getting wrapped up in wellies and winter coats.

Computer Skills

We offer all children the opportunity to use our computer with the current suitable software. We use this as an alternative way to encourage development of :
• Basic IT skills • Infant literacy • Infant numeracy • PSHE

Special Needs

Our Pre-school aims to incorporate the DfEE Code of Practice on the Identification and Assessment of Special Education Needs. We have two qualified SENCO (Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator) staff within our setting who ensure that each child’s developmental needs are met and are closely monitored. Language and communication difficulties, autism, partially sighted and food intolerances such as coelic disease are just a few of the areas in which we have knowledge and experience. Both our SENCO staff attend regular meetings and in-service training run by the Preschool Learning Alliance and other professional bodies.
